One of the joys in our lives is getting together and exchanging gifts during occasions – festivals, birthdays and anniversaries. But one diwali was different. The idea to form our trust started with a simple Diwali card from a friend. It said that henceforth, instead of sending gifts at Diwali time, he had decided to donate a certain amount to his favourite charity for children. The message was simple but powerful. A reminder, that while we celebrate, we should remember that many children from low income families die or suffer disability due to lack of medical care. This experience inspired some of us to start a charitable trust called ‘Child Care Trust’ 15 years ago. With the help of our friends and family, we were able to help a large number of critically ill children. We however had a strong desire to scale up our operations. A group of friends have therefore come together to form ‘Healing Touch’ – A medical aid trust for children’, to take our initiative to the next level. With the diverse talents within our group, we are well positioned to scale up our efforts on a larger platform.
